Our Favorite TikToks From Musicians This Past Month

We saw a lot of incredible TikToks from artists over the past month, but we’ve decided to list 10 of our favorites and why they made us stop scrolling on our For You Page.

From: Felix Ames (@felixames)

This TikTok immediately grabbed our attention with Felix Ames listing specific moments where we would enjoy listening to his music. If you’re an artist wanting to promote your music on TikTok, take time to figure out the audience that fits your style and make a list of things those people enjoy doing.

@charlieputh

I think I’ll call this one Left and Right?

If you’re wondering why Charlie is sitting sideways, it’s because he’s next level. Charlie is notable on the app for giving quick breakdowns of his musical ideas, allowing his audience to be a part of his creative processes. In this particular video, he instructs us to “tilt our phones horizontally” to get the full experience of the song, making the video interactive in a way we haven’t seen before.

@itsanthonyrusso Reply to @willcaserta good luck brotha! ❤️ #duet #tutorial #howto #fyp ♬ original sound - anthonyarusso

From: Anthony Russo (@itsanthonyrusso)

Anthony gave a great breakdown of how he builds his duet-like videos for open-verse TikToks initiated by other artists. Engaging with other artists on the platform is extremely important while building a community for yourself. Be sure to comment, like, and answer questions from other musicians who are active on the app! And in case you’re curious, you can watch the final version of Anthony’s open-verse duet here.

From: Alexandria Corn (@alexandriacorn)

There are several different reasons why this video from Alexandria Corn stuck out to us - First, she gave a clear, quick, and catchy hook in the very beginning of the video to get us locked in to watch. Then, she proceeded to play her song written about dogs while having her dog sitting beside her! The extra element of adding her dog while staying close up to the camera helps pull the emotions out of the audience and wanting to watch until the end of the video. Lastly, adding the mic as a prop is the perfect touch to make the video more visually appealing.

From: Nightly (@nightlyofficial)

Nightly has perfectly tied in their indie-pop music to videos with visually satisfying aesthetics. This post in particular caught our attention with the added motion of the car moving while he’s performing the song!

@its.matt.schuster

Love this song.. so here’s a lil cover!!

♬ original sound - mattschuster

From: Matt Schuster (@its.matt.schuster)

Matt Schuster had us wishing we were on a cross-country roadtrip with this one. If you’re a musician playing live on camera, make sure the environment around you is visually appealing and matches the vibe of the music you’re playing.

@ktlynraps I won’t lie that extra coin don’t hurt 🤣 @russ eng @brendangone #handsomer #russ #rap ♬ KTLYN x Russ Handsomer - Ktlyn

From: Ktlyn (@ktlynraps)

One of the easiest ways for artists to gain traction on TikTok is to engage and collaborate with other musicians who share a similar audience as yours. Ktlyn blew TikTok away after accepting Russ’ open-verse challenge for his recent release “HANDSOMER” which has since been turned into an official remix of the song dropping March 9, 2022.

From: Elijah Woods (@elijahwoodsmusic)

After Frank Ocean’s “Lost” rose to the top of TikTok’s trending sounds this year, Elijah Woods took the opportunity to slow the song down with a cover to fit his style. Since people were already familiar with the song, Elijah’s cover quickly gained momentum and has been used in over fifty thousand videos on the app!

From: Nahscha (@nahscha)

Showing off your talent to real people in the moment while also posting the same content on TikTok is a win-win! In Nahscha’s video, she was able to not only grab attention from people walking down the street, but she was also able to reach TikTok users by capturing real-time reactions and finding a cool space in the street to make her video stand out on our feeds.

From: Alexander 23 (@alexander23)

Making TikToks doesn’t always have to be extremely time-consuming. Alexander 23 was able to reach us with his new song by just.. running away! The motion of Alexander running keeps us glued to the video while listening to the song, plus we stayed until the very end to make sure he didn’t get hit by a car. Not sure if that was his intention of keeping us hooked, but it worked!

If you’re struggling to find your groove with TikTok content creation, keep in mind, these artists didn’t just find their success overnight. It takes time, patience, consistency, and trying new things to find what works best for you and your audience. Take inspiration from your favorite musicians on TikTok and spend time noting why their content stands out to you, then use that to brainstorm new ideas that will lead to your own success.
