Overview

In 2008, Flobots’ hit single “Handlebars” propelled the band onto the world stage. While they maintained a loyal core fanbase over the years, an extended break from touring created the need to reignite excitement ahead of their Spring and Summer 2022 tour. With no existing TikTok presence and a limited social media footprint, Venture Music was tasked with quickly building momentum, reconnecting with superfans, and introducing the band to new audiences.

Our Approach

The campaign began by creating a TikTok profile and connecting existing superfans to it through duets of popular videos using “Handlebars.” This approach leveraged nostalgia while signaling the band’s return, and all videos included pinned reminders about upcoming tour dates. Once these duets gained traction, we shifted to original content highlighting the band’s personalities, humor, and political voice, sparking conversation and controversy.

Two major pre-tour concepts went viral. A duet campaign around “Handlebars” inspired thousands of artist contributions across TikTok, and a collaboration with @danielswell about Logan Paul’s alleged copying of the song in 2017—paired with the band’s diss track—earned nearly 5 million views. Once the tour began, every show was live-streamed on TikTok, engaging fans in non-tour markets and boosting ticket sales.
